Genomic Sequencing

Analyzing the genomic sequences for extremophilic bacteria by comparing bacteria found before & after prescribed forest burns

Analyzing the attachment rates of a predatory bacteria (Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus) to its prey (Escherichia coli) using optical tweezers. Concluding that the rate is much faster than previously understood & may help combat antibiotic resistance.

Telluric Contamination

Telluric contamination is spectral contamination from the Earth's atmosphere. I specifically studied how well we make these corrections as it pertains primarily to exoplanet atmospheric studies.
